Imagine jumping out of bed in the
morning feeling wide-awake and enthusiastic, after the most wonderful night’s
sleep. You are calm and relaxed feeling confident in yourself and all your
abilities. You look forward to the day ahead and all the challenges that you
have to meet. You enjoy your journey to work, even though you get stuck in a
traffic jam. Instead of getting angry you use this time as an opportunity to
plan your day ahead, rehearsing what you will say in this morning’s meeting
and you visualise a favourable outcome. Arriving at work, you have a smile for
everyone. You notice how happy and helpful everyone is today, even those people
who normally irritate you! At the end of the working day, you finish all the
jobs you planned to do, and a few more besides, and it’s still only 5pm. You
leave work on time and go home, still having plenty of energy and enthusiasm.
You enjoy your evening with family or friends and finally go to bed happy and
contented.
Now imaging everyone in your organisation being like that! Everyone happy and
enthusiastic, co-operating and communicating easily with each other, being more
focused, more creative, more productive and more accepting of each other.
